Privacy Policy
How we handle your data
Common Ground is built for privacy between partners first. Here is what we store, what we share, and what stays private.
What the app stores
Common Ground stores your account information (email, display name), your weekly check-in responses, reflection notes, and generated summaries. All data is stored securely and encrypted in transit.
We do not sell your data. We do not share individual responses with advertisers, researchers, or any third party.
Privacy between partners
The app is designed so that each partner's individual answers are never directly visible to the other. Shared summaries show category-level patterns, not raw responses to individual questions.
- Your individual question scores are never exposed to your partner
- Safety-flag answers (fear, control, cruelty) stay private by default
- Shared summaries use neutral language and show only category averages and discrepancies
- Reflection notes are private unless you choose to share them
Recorded conversations
If you use the conversation recording feature, raw audio is retained for up to 7 days. After that, only the transcript text and any generated shared feedback remain. You can delete recordings at any time.
Notifications and reminders
Notifications are optional and user-controlled. We will never send push notifications designed to guilt or pressure a partner. Reminder copy is neutral and supportive.
Example: "Your weekly check-in is ready" — not "Your partner is waiting for you."
Account deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app's settings screen. Deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. When you delete your account, your individual responses, reflections, and private safety-flag data are removed. Shared summaries that have already been generated may remain visible to your partner in anonymized form.
